Lots of options and classes for everyone

I started Karate 2 years ago at 5 Elements, the instructors are amazing. Business has fully been transformed over the last few years. My whole family now does different martial arts depending on their preference. One child does Muay Thai, one does JiuJitsu, one does Weapons. My wife does kickboxing and I do Karate, best part is we do it without having to go back and forth a hundred times. Love this place. Cost is equivalent to other instructor led fitness classes but I get much more than just fitness, I get a life skill and get to kick and punch stuff when I need a release. I can't say enough about this place.

Very Experienced Instructors, Good Programs, Great Atmosphere

A great school with a welcoming atmosphere, boasting multiple high level instructors (former world champs and pro fighters) to learn from and a wide variety of classes to take (Karate, Judo, Weapons, Muay Thai, BJJ, Boxing, Fitness). If you looking for a gym where you can work all aspects of the martial arts this the place for you.

Great Group of friendly people to train with and be support by through your marital arts journey. No matter weather you want to be a competitive fighter or just get a sweat on. The instructors will make sure you get what you want to be, if you'r willing to put in the time and effort.

Too much drama. Felt like main concern was money. Not very many true values to the art

I've been active in different styles of martial arts for over a decade of my life.

At 45 years old, I decided to get back into Kickboxing and Muay Thai and found 5 Elements Martial Arts in Calgary.

What a pleasant surprise to find such a diverse school, with such great people and trainers.

Professional boxers, now retired, that teach boxing classes.

World Champion Muay Thai fighters, now retired from the ring, that teach the Muay Thai classes.

World Champion Kickboxing and Karate fighters that teach their skills to everyone from beginners to seasoned practitioners.

I must admit I've become a true addict of this place and now take part in the Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Boxing, and Karate classes!

I love it here - the people are friendly and encouraging - and the trainers are top notch.

I highly recommend this to anyone young or old that wants to learn self defence, focus, and some damn fine martial arts skills along the way.

My highest marks go to 5 Elements.

I gave this place a real shot bought all my gear through them.

I first tried the monthly deal and then I tried the punchcard deal. In both cases because I didn't go enough due to work travel there was reasons to lose my membership dollars... I don't know many other places that have expiry's on their punchcard deals? That is ridiculous why would there be an expiry date on something I pay good money for? I found the staff to be very very nice but their policies are terrible and I found it to be very expencive, now I'm stuck with a whole bunch of fifth element gear that I would never be in a member to again not impressed .

Too distracting atmosphere for young children

I have visited Five Elements Martial Art a couple of times for my 6-year-old child and myself( adults' fitness kick boxing or TKD), haven't really been a member at all. Sitting in the same room watching children's lesson going on, I have felt it looked too distracting for young children to be able to focus what they were supposed to do. They can see people coming in and out, parents sitting on the bench along watching in the same room, all the noises, and etc.

I didn't see my 6 year old girl fully be able to focus and the room for adults' kick boxing class looked too small.

So I decided not to sign up for my child, but a coupe of things I liked about were the fee was quite reasonable and very accommodating schedule. I recommend Five Elements if you are a little older (old enough to ignore the distractions) and you would like to experience of different martial arts at one location at a reasonable rate.

I have several yrs training in many different regions.

This school was a warm change.

Luxurious modern interior, no ego's from instructors which was a nice change. everyone was treated the same and were there to improve.

The instructors are well versed in what they teach and they don't try to be something they are not.

I would highly recommend this school to anyone who wants to improve in all aspects of martial arts weather it be technical, physical, or fitness this is well rounded with many different martial arts to offer..

Unable to Succeed

I now attend another martial arts studio where I am supported and able to succeed. My time at 5 elements was unproductive for the following 5 reasons.

1. One arrogant instructor spoke negatively "said - you suck" and did not encourage me to return for more of his classes.

2. Another instructor played favorites and spent significant time with her chosen few ignoring most of the others in the class. This instructor also punched me in the head during a sparring session and insensitively laughed it off.

3. In one of the classes, primarily attended by women, a male student began to harass me (sexually) and abuse me (left a big bruise on my arm during an after class practice), when I tried to escalate this issue to the owner nothing was done and I was forced to quite to avoid him. The management was apathetic.

4. I spoke with another parent who complained that the children's classes were too large and understaffed to provide quality instruction which I had also experienced when trying to send my child.

5. I spoke with some of the original supportive instructors from 4 years ago who relayed to me that they were pushed out.
