The dojo was founded in 2006 as a community program within the Clareview Community Centre. All members must also hold a valid community association membership.
The dojo is registered as a non-profit society in the province of Alberta. The club offers quality, dynamic Okinawan Ryusyokai Goju-ryu karate training at affordable prices. Students also study the Ryukyu Tesshinkan Kobudo (weapons) system.There are special rates for multiple family members training as well. The schedule offers separate classes for beginner youth, intermediate youth and adults.
Renshi Jamieson (Jamie) Hanlon, godan, has been involved in the martial arts for over four decades. Jamie holds a BA (U Manitoba) and a B Ed (U Regina) and has six years of classroom teaching experience. Within the martial arts, he has served as an assistant instructor and instructor for over 30 years.
