Tiger's Den provides a superb training environment for beginning and experienced martial artist alike. The complementary Jukoshin Ryu and Combined Grappling Arts syllabi taught at Tiger's Den are rich in throws, joint locks, chokes, and strikes, applicable from both standing and on the ground. There's something in it for every situation, and for every body size and type.

Training at Tiger's Den has a simple focus - practical self defence that works when you need it. Whether training defences against armed or unarmed attackers, Jukoshin Ryu teaches no-nonsense techniques to interrupt, disarm and neutralize an attacker. Should an attacker take you to the ground, Combined Grappling Arts provides a battery of effective ground techniques and intense grappling experience designed to end the fight decisively. Sensei Jamie Rickard, head instructor and 3rd Dan Black Belt, is a consummate expert and gifted teacher who helps to make learning easy, no matter your level of athletic talent or physical fitness.

While training is serious business, the atmosphere at Tiger's Den is friendly and informal. Class sizes are typically 5-10 students, normally consisting of a couple of Black Belts, a couple of intermediate kyu belts (green through brown), and some novice kyu belts (white through orange). Training is always fun, and because class sizes are small there's always individualizeed attention available if you need it.

I have been training at Tiger's Den for a little more than 4 years, and I love the experiences and the skills it has taught me. I look forward to our classes every week. If you're looking for a new experience - either as a novice in the martial arts, or as an experienced artist looking for a new twist - I enthusiastically invite you to come join us for 3 free classes, to see what we're all about.
