Mountain Coast Aikikai is a not-for-profit martial art school located in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
Established in 1991, our mission is to promote a personal understanding and direct experience of martial art training - specifically Aikido, Iaid Batto-ho and Iaijutsu as vehicles for the development of martial-awareness, self-defense skills, and personal growth.
The school offers a dynamic, knowledgeable, positive and safe environment for dedicated training in Aikido and related martial arts in a semi-traditional Japanese dojo setting. Instruction is provided at all levels - beginner, intermediate and advanced.
Mountain Coast Aikikai is affiliated with Birankai International, founded by Master T.K. Chiba, 8th dan, Shihan, a senior direct disciple of O-Sensei Morihei Ueshiba, the Founder of Aikido. Birankai is recognized by the Aikikai Foundation-Aikido World Headquarters, Tokyo, Japan.
All instruction at Mountain Coast Aikikai is conducted under the direction of Sensei Jobe Groot, 6th dan, Shidoin (Certified Instructor).
