I signed up with the East location and a few weeks later they closed. There is no other location nearby and all requests for a refund (of a $1000 membership!) have been IGNORED. I will be taking them to small claims court. BUYER BEWARE

OAMA abruptly cancelled the Taekwondo program at the beginning of June. They failed to let anyone know that it was shut down and why. They are refusing to refunding the unused portion of the year long membership stating that they are losing money if they provide refunds (YES REALLY!). This is in violation of the Ontario Consumer Protection Act. If you do decide to sign up, do month to month, but I will never trust these guys.

I want my money back. OAMA stopped offering the taekwondo classes my children were in and violated the consumer protection act and will not refund my money for the remaining term. They suckered people into signing up for one year of taekwondo classes only to turn around and tell them they won't get their money back.

Walked into the academy for the first time this morning at 7am for a training session in Jiu Jitsu and was a little nervous but only till i walked into the front door. The instructor and students were extremely helpful and non threatening. Everyone was really nice, the drills were very good and all my questions were answered and then some. I enjoyed it so much that i plan on going back this evening! Thank you Pat Cooligan for the invitation, Josh, John, Mat, Chris and I'm sorry but i forgot the other guys name. Thanks everyone!

The BJJ teachers were very good, but I was very badly misled when I signed up. When I asked if I could sign up for a month-to-month membership, I specifically asked if I could cancel without penalty and was told it would not be a problem.

Months later, time commitments made it difficult to attend more than one class per week and I opted to cancel my membership, at which point I was charged a 6 week cancellation penalty.

To be fair, my contract did contain this information, but I was upset to have my trust so badly abused by the staff when I asked a direct question about their cancellation policies. I received no understanding from the OAMA manager, and was promptly charged $300+ and sent on my way.

I think it's a shame that they choose to do business this way, since they really do provide quality instruction. This experience will forever sour me on the OAMA.
