I took Karate for more than 30 years elsewhere. ..shocked to see that this place doesn't even make their students EARN their belts. You're supposed to have belt tests or gradings, where students can fail for not meeting pretty strict standards. This place has belt "demonstrations" where students, if they've been members "long enough" get invited to "demonstrate. " Everyone just gets the next level of belt handed to them at the end, whether they deserve it or not. That's why this place has the youngest "black belts" I've ever seen. No way, no how do these students deserve the belts they're wearing. I saw students in these "demonstrations" literally looking at other students the whole time they were supposed to be performing their kata, because they didn't know what moves came next. This is a pass? Here, yes it is. "Brown belt" students from this place that I know later went to a real karate school, and after being assessed, were put to WHITE belt based on their real skill level. This place clearly doesn't want to anger soccer moms who pay all this money and have their precious darlings actually fail a belt test, so they've done away with the belt tests to keep people happy. They've just destroyed the entire benefit of actually having to earn something in the martial arts. No lessons learned here except for SAVE YOUR MONEY
