I have been a student with Shining Mountain Dojo for two years now and the journey has been a great one. When I joined I didn’t have any experience in Martial arts. I wanted to try something new, but in the same time something practical that would be useful for my job. From a female perspective, it’s a great self defence training that allows you to overcome size and strength disadvantages through proper techniques and body mechanics. I walk away after every class with some new tips on my techniques and with a sense of control over my own safety.

One of the most important criteria when joining a class is the quality and the character of the instructor. Shining Mountain Dojo’s instructors are knowledgeable and dedicated to pass on the art. They do an excellent job of breaking down the principles and techniques to make them easily understandable for every level. Their support and encouragement create a great atmosphere for training.

I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to train in Martial arts, learn self defence or just wanting to try something new.

Shining Mountain Dojo provides a very balanced learning environment. It focuses on traditional Japanese values, but also provides very practical self-Defense techniques based on Japanese jujutsu. Definitely recommend them for new students!
