Training at Tiger Claw Kung Fu and Tai Chi is not like what you'll find at most schools. We strive to keep the ancient Shaolin training methods alive in the modern world. This is for those who are seeking to challenge themselves with an authentic experience exactly like you would find in the mountains of China. Training focuses on all aspects of body, mind, and spirit, from physical conditioning to internal cultivation to practical self-defense. Our primary style, Fu Jow Pai, is based on movements and qualities of the tiger, and is being taught in Canada for the first time!
Tai Chi Chuan is both a martial art and a practice to promote wellness. By moving slowly through soft movements, practicing Tai Chi is energizing and relaxing at the same time. Classes integrate Qi Kung breathing exercises and a mobility-promoting warm-up to create a full body health tune up for those of all ages and levels of physical ability. The full range of Tai Chi practice is offered, from its health benefits to martial art applications for those interested.
Sifu Kriel has been studying martial arts for 22 years, and began training in Fu Jow Pai and in 2002 under Sifu Julian K. Duran. He has also had the opportunity to train in seminars directly under Si Gong Wai Hong, the inheritor of the style and an eminently respected figure in Chinese martial arts. He has a 4th degree black belt in the style, and has also trained in Hung Gar, Mi Chung I, Yang style Tai Chi Chuan, and Leung Ying Tai Chi Chuan. He is also a trained acupuncturist and herbalist in Traditional Chinese Medicine. You can learn more from our website as www.tigerclawmartialarts.com.
