Excellent Martial Arts Training

This is a great school to train. The instructors have deep training themselves with lots of skill and they have the ability to communicate and breakdown the training so that both novice to seasoned martial artists can benefit. The training is realistic with lots of variety and based on effectiveness vs. "what might look good" . The students all work well together and the atmosphere is very positive. The instructors have a genuine interest in the students and you will notice that right away. I'm glad I found out about this school.

I have done martial arts myself in the past and I enrolled my child in the Little Dragons program and never looked back. The teaching is focused and the instructors really know how to get information to kids. My little one is picking up quickly and we have seen major changes in his attitude at home because of his martial arts classes. Great job Sifus Marvin and Andrew!!

If you haven't joined yet, then what are you waiting for? Great instructors! Amazing lineage under Sifu BRUCE LEE and Guro DAN INOSANTO. Everyone is friendly and you always feel at home in every class. Great workout, always a good variation, and caters to ALL LEVELS. Have tons of fun without even knowing that you're increasing your strength, stamina and coordination. Learn that using simple, yet effective tools and tasks--such as putting on a jacket, or picking up a cup--, as well as your treatment of others, in everyday life, IS martial arts. The philosophies and concepts that WCMAA has to offer is priceless.

This school is just amazing to say the least. The two instructors Guro Marvin and Sifu Andrew are excellent teachers. Their approach is systematic and leaves no one behind. The Jeet Kune Do and Filipino Kali are much more than I expected. This is as practical as it gets. What a great bunch of students. I felt welcomed from day 1 and I have never looked back. Excellent rates as well. The best around!!

BRILLIANT AND EFFECTIVE MARTIAL ARTS!!!

I was fortunate enough to see a live demo last weekend put on by this school at Eau Claire Market in Calgary. WOW!!!!! I must say, I have seen martial arts but this is out of this world. I have not seen a more practical combination of martial arts. It's not about boring kicks, punches and forms. This is as real as it gets. The instructors demonstrating looked very very professional and skilled. I saw Jeet Kune Do and Kali demonstrated. Included were combination drills, knife defence,Arnis Stick drills, throws, take downs and many more. I will be approaching this school to join based on what I saw.

Take my word for it, you want the most practical martial arts skills? Join this school!!

I am active member of Western Canada Martial Arts Academy for almost 7 months now and I am grateful to be a part of this class. The atmosphere of the class is always friendly and you never feel out of place especially when you're new or your training experience is zero like me.

Every class is dynamic. No repetitive kata. And they encourage you to reach your full potential every time.

The instructors are knowledgeable and friendly. They are willing to go the extra mile for you.

I would recommend WCMAA to anyone who is looking for a excellent place to train or anybody who just want to improve themselves like me.

Exceptional place to learn FMA/Silat/JKD

I have only been here for about a month now but I have had a great time. Some places you go say that they help with your fitness level & here that is certainly true. The cardio workouts have you pushed to the brink of your limits but everyone is rooting for you & motivating you.

The martial art aspect is fun as well. The amount of material you learn is phenomenal. In regards to the FMA/Silat Guru Marvin is exceptional. He is always willing to offer you more time on the techniques you are having issues with, is able to encourage you with what you are doing right. It is nice that when we are doing the Kali (stick fighting) everyone is able to do it with control so that no one gets hurt.

In regards to the JKD Guru Andrew & Graham are very knowledgeable as well. They are always trying to push you further (but in a friendly manner) & it is always enjoyable learning from them. Our club is also exceptional in that it has 2 JKD lines, not just 1 like a lot of JKD schools do. The lines at our club are the Dan Inosanto & James Yimm Lee.

Aside from the knowledge base that is made accessible through the different instructors (& there are more than I have listed these are just the ones I have interacted with the most) the things that make this club the most enjoyable is the atmosphere. It is very open & friendly, everyone being down to earth. It feels like you are part of a family, or a group of friends, rather than a martial art club.

If you are looking for FMA or JKD taught in a non aggressive manner & live in the Calgary area I would highly recommend this club.
