Body/Fat shaming should never be something that any child/adult ever experiences. When a young person is likely already nervous to start something new is picked on in front of their peers and so much so, they are in tears, deplorable behaviour. To have this happen to a young child who already struggles with their body image is so beyond ignorant. To pick out a child from the group and then shame them overtly for "being fat" is outdated and really careless as a "leader/teacher". Kids already have enough to deal with in the world at the moment - they do not EVER need to be and feel shamed in front of their peers. Grand Master Kim needs to be schooled in diet culture and the damage that holding only one version of what health and wellness can look like actually perpetuates the lies and the stigma of people who have different body sizes - I recommend some trauma informed training where caring and nurturing spaces can be protected and amplified - body shaming is so 1995, get with the program. Therefore, I would say if you bring your child into this teacher - you run the risk of them being taught core values that don't align with kindness, inclusion and acceptance.
