This school teach real taichi which is relax but powerful. Other clubs in nanaimo also teach taichi forms which seems relax but has no power. The real difference is the power. Many taichi practitioners seems relax but actually they are not real relax. They are "loose" because they have no power.

I've been attending for almost two years. The instruction is very positive and constructive, while paying attention to detail.
I've found the Wu style to be genuinely powerful. The stances are very comfortable for the knees, in particular. The mix of martial application with exercises for health benefits is very useful.
There are a variety of activities so class sessions are never dull.
I have become a student of the Wu Style because I was looking for a Tai Chi style that would offer an extensive curriculum.
I like the detailed study of the Wu Style that is presented in these classes because we are taught to embody the thirteen principles of Tai Chi Chuan from the very beginning of our training, during warm-up exercises, Qi Gong, meditation, the Forms, and Push Hands.
After six months training in the rudimentary basics, there are a variety of forms and martial applications that I look forward to learning in what, for me, will be a lifetime practice and study.
Ken Johnston is a certified instructor, a respected, patient and competent teacher who makes each class varied and very enjoyable.
I have already noticed an increased level of energy, a higher degree of focus, and more sensitivity to know where I carry tension in my muscles, which affects all aspects of my life.
