This is a very traditional school. If you follow the lineage of Okinawan Go-Ju Ryu, starting with the man who named this style of karate (as there were more before him). Chojin Miyagi had his successor, Eiichi Miyazato who had several successors so they could teach the world, taught Shihan Yamanaka (and many more). The Sensei of this dojo trains directly under Shihan Yamanaka. This dojo is fairly strict with respect, you bow in, you bow out whenever you enter/leave the dojo. The Sensei and Senpai are talked to with respect. The students (children and adults) are all wonderful people. We all work together to improve each other as well as ourselves.

The equipment of this dojo is still being improved upon. There are no mats and a few kicking bags (not hanging, the ones you hold), lots of kicking clappers. A lot of the work out you get here will be directly proportional to the amount of effort you put into it (in regards to the adult class). That said, this club is heavily focused on Kata and technique to help you in real life situations, as opposed to a karate kick boxing work out routine. The kids class however has an awesome balance between the two.

Overall this is a wonderful dojo, and if you are looking for a place to train, definitely try it out.

I have multiple children enrolled in the Oshawa Budo Club ranging from 8 to 14. They enjoy the program and the fun and professional environment. I highly recommend his dojo to all.
